| Note | DEATH: aged 88 yr 5 mo 25 da NOTE: name also given as Mary Magdalene source: Botetourt County Marriages, 1770-1853, by John Vogt and T.William Kethley, Jr The original Garst Book states that no further record of Magdalena's descendants had been found. However, in 1984, Mr. John Tracy Walker III provided this author with not only additional information on the above family profile, but also on eight additional generations of Mary Magdalena's progeny. You will notice that the year of death given for Mary Magdalena Garst on page 33 of the original Garst book is given as 1871. I have used the date, 28 Oct 1870 (received from Mr. Walker's records) in this book. In the information that I have to date, Joseph Echols, Jr. is shown as having been married on 24 Sep 1839 in Giles Co., VA, but he is also listed as having been married twice. At this printing, I am unsure as to which marriage this date pertains. The book entitled, "Early Marriages, Wills, and Some Revolutionary War Records, Botetourt County, Virginia" provides the marriage record of Joseph Echols and Mary Magdalene Garst on page 16.
