In 1904-05, he moved to Colorado because of his "weak lungs" and bought a medical practice in Pueblo CO, but a fire destroyed his home and office, so he returned to Carroll Co. GA where he practiced medicine and pharmacy until WWI. After serving as a lieutenant in the Army Medical Corp, he and his family moved to Texas where he worked for the Department of Public Healthin the Rio Grande Valley and Belton before becoming department head in Austin TX. After his retirement, just before WWII, he and his wife returned to Carroll Co. GA to the farm that had been owned by Christopher Garst and Philip Garst. |
