Note

In notes of Ira Clifton Hinkle Garst, written in his copy of William Tell Garst's "Our Garst Family in America," he mentioned a "Bob Jones" who apparently went to Arkansas with Christopher's daughters, Anabella and Nancy. In another note on a letter about the three Garst children listed in the Kinney bible, I.C.H. Garst stated: "This explains the Bob Jones I heard so much about."

There is also the following deed executed in Carroll Co. GA four months after Robert Garst's birth:

DEED: Deed book F p 660: Carroll County, 14 Jun 1850. John Jones to Martha C. Garst. $1.00 Land lot #5 6th district, Carroll Co. Attest William Cartwright, Henry S. Chance, J.P. 20 Dec 1851. The land was taxed in 1853; Christopher Garst signed as Martha's agent. This is the land that was deeded to Arthur, Martha's nephew, in 1902 by Martha's administrator.

This evidence certainly suggests that Robert Garst and Bob Jones were the same persons, and that he was the son of Martha Garst and John Jones.
